CBD and Pregnancy

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]There are a lot of symptoms that can accompany pregnancy — nausea, chronic pain, migraines, and even severe anxiety and depression. Finding relief from these symptoms is likely a top priority, whether you’re pregnant or have someone in your care who’s pregnant. So, let’s discuss what research is available regarding symptomatic relief with CBD and pregnancy

This includes whether it works, whether it doesn’t, and whether it’ll curb your craving for vanilla ice cream and dill pickles (mixed). After all, everything you come in contact with while pregnant can potentially affect your developing child. Though CBD is safe in responsible formulations and quantities for adults, children, and pets, it’s always a good idea to check with your healthcare team often.

Is CBD safe during pregnancy?

To answer this question, we’re loading you up with some resources. If you’re interested, we compiled the following which discuss how CBD and pregnancy interact. Your best bet, especially while pregnant, is to keep your healthcare team in the loop. Obstetricians and their colleagues are trained, ready, and happy to field countless questions. And, of course, they are the best source of reading material, too.

Here are some less-than-positive resources:

Related to the final listed above, you may be wondering, isn’t CBD different than THC? Well, depending on which brand, formulation, extraction process, and a variety of other factors, CBD products can still have THC in them. And, as you may know, THC is the psychoactive compound in marijuana that can be dangerous in some situations (both on its own and with the presence of other chemicals).

Taking CBD during pregnancy

If you and your doctor decide that CBD is right for your pregnancy, do not smoke. There are plenty of ways to take CBD that don’t involve inhaling it. Much like caffeine and alcohol, you should opt for as little consumption as possible. But, of course, listen to your doctor. It’s likely that he or she will recommend that you begin with the smallest possible serving.

Additionally, traditional pain relief options, such as acetaminophen or NSAIDs, may not be optimal during pregnancy. For example, a topical CBD salve (such as this one from Good Goo, a women-owned company) can work well. Or, you may like a transdermal patch (such as these from The Good Patch) can target cramps, sore feet, or sore muscles at the source. However, whichever type of product you choose, make sure it’s all-natural and free of THC. [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_raw_html]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[/vc_raw_html][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Editor’s Note: This blog was originally published on 1/28/19 & has been updated to include new information.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
