CBD, CBG, CBC, CBN & More Explained

CBD, CBG, CBC, CBN & More Explained

Thinking a lot about CBD, CBG, CBC, CBN, and all that lately? Us too. Well, all the time. But, if you still haven’t made much sense of it, let us explain. There are some defining characteristics to know about each of these cannabinoids and a good bit to understand as to why they work better together.

saved by the bell characters working together

Why is CBD the most popular?

CBD had been on the rise for years now. You’ll find it in supplements, drinks, topicals, pet products, and even sophisticated pharmaceuticals. But, perhaps that’s stating the obvious. And, arguably high-quality CBD products are as advanced as other pharmaceuticals already.

CBD was one of the best cannabinoids for scientists to tap into after the passage of the 2018 Farm Bill as it exists in enormous quantities in hemp plants. The fact that CBD exists in such large quantities makes it easy to extract and produce well. Furthermore, it’s easy to get ahold of for scientific research.

It’s also worth noting, too, that THC is abundant. However, that’s a whole other thing. Interest in delta 8 THC is also exploding, a federally legal psychoactive compound from hemp.

What about CBG?

CBG, however, is considered “the Mother of All Cannabinoids.” CBG is the cannabinoid that all other cannabinoids develop into. This breakdown can be forced with the addition of heat. This also allows greater concentrations of other cannabinoids to be extracted.

But what about products that have CBG in them? Why CBG? CBG has many benefits all its own. While all cannabinoids share responsibilities in our bodies and work together, CBG’s particular role directly relates to energy levels and regulation.

Think metabolism, digestion, and overall wellness — that can come from CBG. And, if you choose products that feature CBD + CBG, you’re even better off, since they’ll work together under the phenomenon known as the entourage effect.

Learn more about CBC

If we’ve lost you thus far and you haven’t really gotten into CBD that you ingest — keep reading (but, perhaps we can still convince you otherwise). CBC is a promising cannabinoid to look for in topical products. In fact, CBC has shown to have benefits for skin conditions like acne, while CBD, in general, is known for balancing, restoring, and promoting healthy skin. You can read all about CBD skincare in this post, or browse top products here.

However, CBC, like CBD, also shows benefits for inflammation and even brain function. You won’t necessarily tap into brain health benefits with a topical, of course. So, if mental acuity is your main concern, perhaps look for a CBD + CBC product you ingest.

Say goodnight with CBN

Good sleep is something that can elude the best of us. From work stress to relationship stress to just plain old stress-stress — not sleeping well can be a horrendous cycle. CBN may be your new best friend, especially if you’ve tried other methods like melatonin.

CBN is a cannabinoid that’s shown to promote healthy sleep. What does this mean? You’ll fall asleep quicker and the quality of sleep will be deeper. It’s not too good to be true. However, with any CBD + CBN products, you can be your own worst enemy if you don’t take them consistently or take your time determining your correct dosage.

We’re all in this together

However, if you’re thinking that CBG, CBC, and CBN sound like they could all work well together, too, you won’t miss out on any of them to an extent if you buy full-spectrum products. Granted, it may benefit you more to shop for products that star one or two cannabinoids so you can tap into the specific benefits we’ve mentioned.
