CBD News: September 2019

We’re back for another news roundup on Direct CBD Online — with a side of chocolate pudding (see below). More trending CBD news from September includes McConnell’s urges to the FDA, the Arthritis Foundation, and Marky Mark.

U.S. to spend $3 million to find out if CBD can relieve pain

The nine grants will focus on CBD — none of them on THC. The greatest evidence so far points to CBD’s effects on chronic pain and its potential role in the fight against opioid abuse. Only one of the studies will have human subjects. The study will monitor lower back pain symptoms in volunteers given either regular old chocolate pudding, or CBD-infused chocolate pudding. This response and other studies are motivated mainly by patient-reported success. Of course, there’s still the need to know the actual science behind it all.

McConnell measure tells FDA to create temporary regulations on CBD

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is urging the FDA to create temporary guidance as it plans more long-term regulatory measures for CBD. The amendment would require the FDA to come up with a plan within 90 days and implement it within 120 days. With clearer guidelines, states and financial institutions can have a better grasp on dealing with the CBD industry.

Arthritis Foundation releases first CBD guidance for adults with arthritis

In the Arthritis Foundation’s recent survey, 79% of those polled have already tried CBD or are considering it. The foundation recognizes the need for more research and concrete guidelines. Naturally, patients often don’t want to wait to try new treatments that will relieve pain. In the meantime, the foundation is welcoming the alternative as it seems safe and “the more options available, the likelier it is that more people will benefit.”

Even Mark Wahlberg is getting into the CBD business

From Rob Gronkowski (CBDMEDIC™) to Paul Pierce and Mike Tyson (CopperGel®), the CBD business has a growing list of celebrity backers. The Alkaline Water Company acquired AQUAhydrate, a water-bottle producer based in LA, that also has support from personal trainer Jillian Michaels and Sean “Diddy” Combs. The company plans to produce CBD-infused, functional wellness beverages in the near future due to high demand.

With growing support from the medical community and urgency for regulations to be more clear, CBD may have an easier time living up to the hype. But no matter what celebrities say, or even arthritis specialists, always check with your doctor before adding CBD into your regimen. That’s it for now, but check back in at the end of October for another round of trending CBD news from Direct CBD Online!
