February 2020 Quick Hits

After a January that seemed to drag on, we’re still pretty shocked that it’s nearly March — even with leap day. If you, like us, feel like February passed you by, we’re here to catch you up. It’s time for the Direct CBD Online monthly news roundup, featuring the NFL, top products, and K-9 cops.

Is the NFL’s New CBA Proposal to Ease Suspensions for Failed Cannabis Tests Near the Goal Line?

If you’re not privy to the acronym, a new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), has already been approved by NFL league owners regarding punitive measures for failed marijuana tests. This proposal removes the possibility of suspension. This proposal will also decrease the number of players up for THC testing. Furthermore, it will shrink the window for testing from four months to just two weeks prior to training camp, according to Forbes. The proposal is currently under review by the NFL’s Players Association. The proposal is timely, albeit a reaction due to pressure from the MLB no longer testing for cannabis use.

“There were many times where you’re just sitting in meetings and you’re in agony, and you can’t really be focused because you’re in pain. I’m not saying you put this on and you’re going to be healed, that it’s a miracle. But you can apply this and it’ll help manage the pain, and then you can get treatment and it’ll be a lot less stressful to the body.” – CBD proponent (CBDMEDIC™) Rob Gronkowski, said.

cbdMD’s CBD PM and CBD Freeze Awarded 2020 Product of the Year

cbdMD, available right here on Direct CBD Online, is the recipient of two prestigious honors for its products. cbdMD’s PM formula received the title of the Product of the Year in the CBD Sleep Aid category. This formulation is special not only for the quality of CBD present, but for other sleep-promoting ingredients present, like melatonin, chamomile flower, valerian root, and cascade hops. cbdMD’s Freeze products received the title of the Product of the Year in the Topical category. This product also receives applause because of its ability to effectively combine other pain-relieving herbs with CBD.

Legalization of Hemp and CBD Products Changing K-9 Narcotics Officer Training

It’s not certain whether K-9 narcotics officers are going to forego training of detecting marijuana odors. However, with the growing popularity of hemp and legality of marijuana, the focus will certainly shift. Officers aren’t taking these changes lightly; however, with loosened laws, sources indicate that officers may have concerns about missing other crimes due to this new laxness since marijuana possession has often served as grounds for further investigation. It’s likely that these types of protocols vary depending on your home state.

Thanks for tuning in yet again. We wish you a happy, healthy end to your February (and hope March goes well, too). We’ll see you next month for another news roundup, but, of course, we’ll be here with other industry updates in the meantime.
