[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]You already know the reported benefits of using CBD for anxiety, minor pain, stress, nausea, and a hundred other things. I mean, we aren’t saying anything you don’t already know — right? (If you answered no, then I have some great news for you!)
But, did you know that the same cannabidiol you use for your headaches and stress can be just as effective for animals? All mammals have the same endocannabinoid system with receptors to attach to and absorb the CBD. That means our furry friends will experience the same effects we do.[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]We all want the best for our fur babies, and, as an all-natural and accessible option, giving your pets CBD could be the answer to common ailments, including:

How do I give my pets CBD?
The best way to give CBD to your pets is orally through oil placed right in their mouth, tinctures mixed in with food or water, or as a treat.
Depending on your pet’s needs and personality, treats may be an easy starting point while you work up to the oils or tinctures. But keep in mind that CBD is more thoroughly absorbed through the tissues in the mouth.
While treats are easier to control the amount administered, oils and tinctures are better for modulating the serving, in case you need to increase or decrease the portion.
To administer:
- Oil on its own – All you have to do is drop the tincture into your pet’s mouth. Most pets love the flavor and have no problem licking up the oil. So, all you have to do is wait for it to absorb. Keep in mind that oil can also be applied topically for itches, rashes, or bites.
- Tinctures in food or water – Measure the serving and spread it evenly over your pet’s favorite food or mix it in with their water. This method is almost effortless for you, but make sure they eat every bite or drink every drop to get all the CBD oil.
- Treats – Easiest of all, treats don’t have to be measured or mixed. Just pop a treat out of the pouch and give it to your pet! (Treatibles has a variety of treats, chews, and capsules in different varieties if you are looking for somewhere to start!)

How much CBD should I give my pet?
The basic rule of thumb for deciding how much CBD your pet needs is to give 1-5mg to cats and dogs per every 10 pounds of weight. Typically, servings need to be re-administered approximately every 8 hours for pain, or once or twice a day for other situations, such as calming anxiety or breaking unwanted behavior.
Many pet CBD oils, like CBDfx products, come in different concentrations for different sized pets to keep your life simple. However, it’s important to remember that cats are not and should not be considered “small dogs.” Studies have shown that cats respond better to cannabinoid medicine than dogs, but that the effects last shorter amounts of time. This means that cats probably need CBD more frequently than dogs, even those of the same size.
Just as it’s a good idea for humans to check with their doctors first, it’s always a good idea to check with your vet before giving your pets CBD. If you decide that CBD is right for your pet, start with a small serving and work your way up to larger servings to find what’s right.
