Welcome back to Quick Hits from Direct CBD Online! Read on for a roundup of the CBD news of the month – from drug stores to Jelly Belly and more!

Is CBD Oil Safe for Kids?

“If you’re wondering whether it could help your child, find someone knowledgeable to consult. “I typically advise people to check with their child’s doctor,” says Bissex, noting that in some cases, the oil may interact with certain medications.”

There are loads of potential benefits associated with CBD – and it could be a great supplement to add to your child’s routine! As Bissex notes in this article, it’s important to check with your child’s doctor to make sure no drug interactions could occur and that CBD is the right choice for your child.

THC Versus Breast Cancer

“The vast majority of this preclinical research has examined the anticancer activity of pure compounds, mainly THC isolates. But medical cannabis patients aren’t using pure, single-molecule THC to battle cancer. Instead, they are consuming whole plant cannabis oil extracts that include hundreds of compounds… Thus far, however, few rigorous studies have analyzed the effects of whole plant cannabis extracts.”

It’s well known that THC and CBD have anti-cancer properties, and the research continues to grow. A team of researchers at Complutense University in Madrid studied the efficacy of pure THC isolates and THC-rich oils. The series of experiments focused on breast cancer and how both are affected when combined with chemotherapy drugs.

While both THC isolate and the THC-rich oil were shown to have antitumoral properties, the oil is more effective for three subtypes of breast cancer.

CVS to Sell CBD Products in 800 Stores in 8 States

“The national drug store chain will be marketing the topical cannabidiol products, such as creams, sprays, and roll-ons, as “an alternative source of relief,” CVS said in a statement to NBC News. CVS will also be partnering with a company to test and verify the quality of the CBD topicals sold in its drug stores.”

For those of us living in Alabama, California, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland and Tennessee, this news is pretty exciting! CVS will be offering CBD creams and salves over-the-counter – no supplements or “food additives.” The company has partnered with Eurofins, a third-party lab, to test all their CBD topicals for CBD content, THC, and contaminates. They’re dedicated to providing high-quality CBD topicals.

CBD is booming. But US farmers struggle to keep up with demand for industrial hemp

“Decades of modern farming techniques have tamed staple crops like corn and wheat. Farmers know what to expect when they plant these crops and can follow a pretty straightforward set of guidelines when they grow them. With hemp for CBD, not so much.”

The lack of guidelines, expense of growing and producing, and boom in popularity turned growing hemp into “The Wild West.” Because conservative forecasts predict “sales to reach $16 billion by 2025,” the CBD hemp industry has work to do!

Jelly Belly creator introduces CBD-infused jelly beans

“Klein said he recently became aware of the health benefits attributed to CBD.  “And I said to myself, ‘is anybody doing a jelly bean with CBD?’ I could not find any.”

He told Cannabis Aficionado the candies will not include THC, the main active ingredient in cannabis, as the company is focused on creating CBD-only varieties for now.”

We never thought about it before now – but there has been a lack of CBD jelly beans in the market! Thanks to Klein, we all get to enjoy a tasty childhood treat with added benefits of CBD!
